The Best Care at the Best Price
This is the best question; thanks for asking! Epic isn't a hospital, we are a small facility that only performs surgeries. We don't have the huge overhead of a hospital, which allows us to charge lower prices. We don't have hundreds of patients every day, which allows us to offer more personal care. We don't treat accident victims or diseases so we can be really good at just a few things and we don't have a lot of sick people coming in. We can carefully control who comes to our facility and how it gets cleaned, which in these pandemic days is really huge.
Epic's quality care comes from it attention to the things that matter. We have been conducting surgery since 2016, and have an some of the best quality metrics in Northern Utah. The surgeons and specialists who practice at Epic are the same ones that would provide your surgery at any area hospital. They love practicing at Epic because of our quality facilities and record of safety and efficiency.
It depends on what surgery you have having. Your surgeon is board-certified surgeon who is experienced in the procedure you will be having and you will have a consultation prior to surgery. Surgeons who practice at Epic also practice at hospitals in northern Utah and you can see our surgeons on the "Surgeons" page of this website.
If you've ever shopped for healthcare, you know that it can be next to impossible to get a clear answer to the question, "How much will this cost?" Epic posts its prices online for all the world to see. When you have your surgery at Epic, you know exactly how much it will cost. And because you (or your employer if you are using your medical benefit) will pay the day of surgery, you will never get a bill.
The Epic price covers everything needed on the day of surgery, including:
The initial consultation and/or pre-operative visit with the surgeon is included, as is common follow-up care. The duration of post-operative care varies depending on the surgical procedure as well as the surgeon. The surgeon will inform you during your initial consultation the amount of post-operative care covered by the price.
Some Surgery Centers advertise "price transparency" but their price may not include implants, hardware, or the 23-hour Overnight/Extended stay, resulting in additional hidden costs. Epic's pricing includes all standard costs associated with your surgery, with no surprises.
Epic's price does not include:
If you have questions, please call us a 801-290-6060.
All implants, hardware, plates, screws, meshes, slings, and tissues that are necessary for the surgery are included in the listed price. We don't mark-up our implants.
Epic is not in any insurance network—that is what keeps prices low. Contracts with insurance companies increase rather than decrease the cost of healthcare because of insurance company deals and profit needs (you can read more about this here). Most people will save out of pocket using Epic even if they have insurance. See our "Services" page for prices.
Unfortunately, all the variables in today's healthcare system make it impossible to provide a blanket answer to whether Epic will save you money. But give us a call at 801-290-6060 and an actual human being will help you figure it out. If we can't save you money, we'll tell you.
We accept cash, cashier’s check, health savings accounts (HSA’s), and all major credit cards. Full payment must be received before services are rendered. This allows us to keep our prices as low as possible without the costs associated with collecting payment.
A growing number of employers in Utah are starting to contract directly with Epic for their employees' surgeries. Your employer might be one of them. Call 801-290-6060 to find out.
Your experience at Epic is the same as at any area hospital (except that your care will be more personal). You will have the same surgeons, nurses, and anesthesiologists as you would at a hospital. Our operating rooms are better than ones found at most hospitals and we use the same instruments, medicine, and equipment.
It used to be that surgery had to be performed in a high-cost, inpatient center like a hospital. But with advances in medicine, many of the most common surgeries can be performed as an outpatient procedure. This saves thousands and tens of thousands of dollars; savings that Epic passes on to you.
In short, our prices are low because we cut out the inefficiency—the bureaucracy, the wasted space, the high profits, and the middlemen.
This is such an important question—especially in these COVID days! Because hospitals are where the sick people go, we think Epic is safer than the hospital.
An important benchmark of facility quality is the rate of infections. Epic has been performing surgery at our facility since 2016 and has an infection rate of 0. We're so obsessed with safety that we don't allow medical personnel to wear their own scrubs in surgery (ours have been specially cleaned and sterilized) and prohibiting lab coats in patient care areas. Your safety is our top priority.
Epic has a 23-hour overnight/extended-stay option. We have staff available to provide you high-quality, personalized overnight care.
We do not provide actual accommodations but we can provide recommendations and have a discounted rate with a nearby hotel for Epic patients. We love visitors!
If you need a procedure that we didn’t list, please contact us by phone at (801) 290-6060. We'll tell you if we offer the procedure and how much it will cost.
Epci has arranged with Key Bank to provide patients with no-interest financing for 15 months to cover surgical services. Give us a call to find out more.
